Vietnam visa requirements for American citizen

American ordinary passport holders are required a visa to enter Vietnam

1/ TOURIST VISA

Types:

• Evisa

• Visa on arrival (Pre-visa Approval Letter)

Evisa

This visa allows you to stay in Vietnam maximum 90-day, single/multiple entry

Upon arrival at the checkpoint, show up your passport + printed evisa

Required documents:

• Passport biodata page

• Soft copy image 4x6cm, white background

Processing time:

• Normally 3-5 working days, excluding Sat, Sun and holiday.

• In case you're rush, there are also options to expedite processing time: 1 hour/ 4 hours/ 1 working day/ 2 working days

Visa On Arrival (Pre-Visa Approval Letter)

Before arriving Vietnam, you apply for this visa. If approved, you will receive a Approval letter, then you show up this letter at arrival airport to stamp a visa on your passport

This visa is allow you to stay in Vietnam 15-30 days, single entry

Required documents:

• Passport biodata page

• Soft copy image 4x6cm, white background

Processing time:  4 hours - 1 working days, excluding Sat, Sun and holiday.

Upon arrival checkpoint, show up the Pre-visa approval letter to stamp visa on your passport

2/ BUSINESS VISA

• Evisa

Same as Evisa mentioned above

• Pre-visa Approval Letter

This visa needed a company in Vietnam as a sponsor to apply for you. After having Approval letter, you visit Vietnam embassy/consulate oversea to stamp visa

America ordinary passport holders are eligible for Vietnam business visa that valid up to 1 year, multiple entry

APPLICATION METHOD 

• Evisa: apply online at https://thithucdientu.gov.vn/ or https://evisa.gov.vn/  . You can apply yourself or through an agent

• Visa on arrival: This visa requires a sponsor. Tourist approval letter apply through agent. Business approval letter apply through your business partner

GOVERNMENT VISA FEE

• Evisa: 25USD single entry / 50USD multiple entry. Credit/Debit cards are accepted

• Pre-visa approval letter: for this visa you have to pay for stamping visa fee. Accepted only cash 

  • single entry: 25USD

  • multiple entry / 3 month visa: 50USD

  • multiple entry/ 3-6 month visa: 95USD

  • multiple entry/ 6-12 month visa: 135USD
